The trailer refurb is a work in progress atm. In this pic we started doing the wire brushing. Once done we painted it with Action Gel acid to get the rest of the rust off it.

Trailer Re-paint and Signage

Thanks for stopping by our website 🙂 . This is our first blog post!

Our business is only 7 weeks old. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us, referred us, vouched for us, contacted us, commissioned us to do jobs for them and/or helped in other ways so far.

We realise our trailer doesn’t look ‘at its best’ atm, however we’re in the process of rectifying this. It’s a great trailer, but we know it needs a re-paint… which we’ll do as soon as we’ve finished the prep work. So far we’ve:

  • Removed the loose rust (with a wire brush)
  • Applied rust-removal acid. I sometimes use Action Gel for this.

This week we’ll next:

  • Pressure-wash it
  • Apply rust preventative (we like to use Penetrol)
  • Setup our Spray Compressor and our Spray Guns, then apply Primer
  • Spray the top-coat colour (dark grey)
  • Paint the signs. 23 years ago Jay was taught sign-writing (the old methods as well as the new methods). He was an apprentice sign-writer and sign installer. Jay will paint these signs himself. He can be commissioned to paint signs for others too. Nothing quite like a hand-painted sign. He might also buy a Cricut Machine at some point to cut vinyl for people as well.
  • Add the signs

Wherever possible we have been buying materials for this refurb and repaint job locally, including at Gayndah Fruitgrowers Mitre 10.

We’ve also designed the signs for the trailer (see the below mock-up). Jay is a graphic designer. It’s handy having a graphic designer who designs signs, anything and everything, websites, etc in the team. He’s been a graphic designer and website designer for over 20 years. He still does this work each week in and around us doing mowing, handyperson jobs, making things, fixing things, etc (plus he has people who sub-contract for him in Australia when needed). Here are Jay’s websites: www.greenvalleydigital.com.au and www.jaydaniellsweb.com.au

We run all our businesses full time, including ‘Jay’s Mowing and Handyperson Services‘. We just set up our ‘Google My Business‘ profile today with our ‘open hours’ included.

Thanks for taking the time to read our first blog post :). We’ll add more here in this website shortly.
